Dear Parents,
We are excited to share that our MYP4 and MYP5 students will soon be taking part in the UK Bebras Challenge during the next fortnight.
The Bebras Challenge is an annual, internationally recognized competition that introduces students to computational thinking through fun, engaging puzzles. UK Bebras is organised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford. Developed to spark interest in computer science, it encourages students to think logically and problem-solve in creative ways. The tasks do not require any prior knowledge of computer science, so it’s an inclusive way for students to develop valuable skills and see how these concepts apply in the real world.
The competition will take place during Digital Design lessons, and students will tackle a series of timed questions, each designed to challenge their critical thinking and pattern recognition skills. The tasks range from logic puzzles to complex scenarios that involve strategic planning—providing a fantastic opportunity to stretch their minds and enjoy a bit of friendly competition!
At the end of November, students will receive their score and certificates based on their performance, and we’ll be celebrating their efforts with house points. We’re looking forward to seeing them grow in confidence and deepen their interest in computational thinking.
Best wishes,
Nikki Cossey (MYP Digital Design and DP Computer Science Teacher)
